One of the most well known works of art, Lady Justice is known by many names: Justice, Justicia, Blind Justice, Themis, just a few. Dating from Greek and Roman times, she is typically blindfolded, bare breasted, and holding scales and sword. Justica is most often depicted with a set of weighing scales which she measures the strengths of a case's support and opposition. She is also often seen carrying a double-edged sword, symbolizing the power of Reason and Justice, which may be wielded either for or against any party.
